Doing Things
Three projects for one agency, all about making ordinary stuff look good.
For Doing Things, the team behind some of your favorite social pages like Overheard, I art directed for a new podcast, Overstimulated, and was the motion designer on two social series, Happy Hour and Stuff Show.
Overstimulated
Dressing a parenting podcast in tailored chaos.
The Brand
The show is about the emotional whiplash of modern parenting, so the brand celebrates the beautiful mess instead of tidying it up. The direction was kindergarten supplies meets editorial: a condensed serif wordmark with the wobble of fridge magnets and kids’ handwriting, a palette pulled from Post-its, and cover art like a collage stuck to the fridge.
Directing from Afar
I work remotely, so I wasn’t on set. Instead I built the playbook the team shot from: imperfect stories, imperfect pictures. Direct flash for the lighting, high-brow suits against low-brow mess for the styling, and two sets. In Living Room Madness the hosts posed high-fashion on a heap of toys, costumes and plush, deadpan amid the clutter. In Tailored Chaos they wore sharp suits and ties covered head to toe in sticky notes.
Cover Art
Two masters, one for each set, and three 4:5 options for every place the show lives.
The Motion Kit
I designed and animated the show’s whole toolkit myself: the logo animation in two styles and six color pairs, lower thirds on sticky-note cards, a sticky-note pile transition, and subscribe cards for wide and vertical video, all built as templates the team can drop into every episode.

Happy Hour
Last call for the best things people say out loud.
Pour One Out
Overheard collects the funniest lines people say in public. Happy Hour is its after-work spin-off. The team already had the matchbook, I just need to add the spark.
A Matchbook in a Day
I had about a day to make this come to life. So I took apart an old matchbook, built a template from it, printed it at my local print shop, and scanned it frame by frame as it opened, from Happy Hour on the cover to Overheard inside.
Stuff Show
A museum catalog for the stuff in your bag.
The Logo
A chunky, roughed-up wordmark that bounces into place, stacks up, and collapses to a single dot. I built it in black on white and white on black so it opens any episode.
